I have a very noob question. How high does the rating level go on puzzles? Meaning the puzzles you solve. Do they have a cap high rating? Reason I ask is because I just threw myself a party for solving a 1590 rated puzzle. Should I clean up the confetti that rained down on me before anyone asks me why it's all over my room or do I leave it out?
Questions about USChess, Tournaments, and other general questions about chess!

Any possibility or discussion of getting the USCF and/or USCF members only clubs duplicated on Lichess? I would assume the members only club would have to be approved by the USCF, but not the general USCF club.

They are free to start their own Affiliate and run events. The one here , the Members Only club, is the Chess.com Affiliate.

1. Only FIDE can hold Online rated FIDE events. For OTB, the cost and requirements don't justify most affiliates to run them. Add to that the need to have enough players with established FIDE ratings in the event for new players to get rated, means mainly only larger regional or national events will have FIDE rated sections.
2. US Chess rated events can be held anywhere. You have to have a certified TD, a US Chess affiliate to submit through, and all players have to have current US Chess memberships. If those requirements are met, you can run US Chess rated events.
3. Sites could create their own titles, like FIDE did for online, buy there's a lot of potential issues with something like that.

Hi everyone,
I'm going to do my first tournament soon, and yet I'm still very confused about how they work. I've looked at a lot of websites and I'm still confused. If someone could please let me know how the system of a tournament works, what it's like, and what I do at my first one so I'm not super confused, that would be amazing. I appreaciate you guys.

How can I play against the Réti as black (i have some experience with the wayward queen attack, caro-khan, and indian game)

I was a tournament director way back in the 1970’s…analog clocks with flags, descriptive notation and manual pairing slips in tournaments. Does anyone know what the current requirements are to be a certified TD? Must tournament pairings be done only with software now? Are only electronic clocks legal for US Chess tournament play?
Thanks to anyone who knows

Do you mean attending a tournament or directing a tournament?

Software for pairings is not required but sure makes things easier to do and makes it much faster to submit for ratings.
Digital clocks are the default clock but analog can be used if a pairing doesn't have one available.
As to becoming a certified TD, at the club level you just need the book and rules updates, read them, then submit a form that you've done that. Of course, you also have to get a US Chess membership if you don't have one.

my coach says my uscf rating is prob around 1100 but its still 990. will it pick up bc im still provisional and started recently but I've been playing for 8 years

What would I need to do to become an official USChess arbiter for tournaments?
- Have a US Chess membership
- Buy the current rulebook and updates
- Read the rulebook
- Fill out the Club TD application form on this page: https://new.uschess.org/tournament-directors
- You'll also need to complete Safe Play training
In order to submit events, you'll have to do it through an active affiliate that adds you as a TD.

are the tournaments here USCF rated?
Not in this club. There are some clubs where there are US Chess online rated events
Can titles such as NM be revoked if an event gets rerated?
I was curious because, for some reason, a 5 year old tournament just got rerated, which caused me to lose one rating point at that tournament, which in turn changed my peak rating from 1800 to 1799, which caused my rating floor to drop 100 points. If I were 400 points better and the rerating would cause the peak to go from 2200 to 2199, would the title also be pulled?

I'm guessing if the title is awarded it wouldn't be removed by a re-rate.
