I cannot tell you how many times I've played the game that you're about to see. And I mean down to the move!

Very instructive because the moves were so natural.  I was playing right along with black lol.

Exellent posts group, and funny replies as well as comments. I could only begin to think, "why am I such a beginner?" Well with these forums and everyone willingness to teach, I should quickly (with well thought out study) move my chess game (and chessese) to the next level. Thanks again!!

Here is a mini from the 2. b3 (Snyder Variation) Sicilian.  It's one move over the limit but a good example of keeping your king in the center too long and playing too defensively (playing moves like h6 and a6 from black's prosepective when it wastes time.

I have been looking for something obscure to play against Sicilian. I think I just found it. Nice post!

Man I loved the Snyder variation.  I am learning the main lines too... but its so refreshing to get your opponent out of book.  Unfortunately, the higher you compete, the more folks have done home prep!

Hey everyone, I tried to employ a trap in my last match and although the trap didnt play out I was successful. I apologize for the multi-tude of moves it took for me to claim mate, but I would appreciate any feedback or alternate moves I could have used to end the game.

p.s. I hope this link will take you into the game :)

Was this the game bebone13?  If so this is what I called throwing the kitchen sink at the opponent!  Good stuff!

Haven't posted here in awhile. Here's something easy to avoid. This may look similar to an earlier post. Enjoy!

I had to post this one! The original members of this group might recall a forum posted of a strange variation of the Caro-Kann Defense. The Bayonette Attack it was called. Well, this is what could happen to an unprepared player.

This is a game I played at a local club in my area.  I was white, and I think it shows the importance of developing pieces early in the game.  ( The game is a little over 15 moves.  I hope that is not a problem)

on move 11 u missed a forced mate.

Mate in 2:       11.Bxf7+ Nxf7 12.Qxf7#

This is an interesting short historical game involving one of my favorite chess players of all time - Mikhail Chigorin. Enjoy!

Speaking of initiative... I happen to watch a game over at live chess of Head playing some guy 200 live chess rating points higher...

It was a blood bath.  A moment of silence for the victim please.

Try to solve the problem first

Pete, I was gonna keep that to myself. It was shameful what I did to him...lol

Only in LIVE can I sac a rook, bishop, and a knight, and still win.

Watch out for this common trap if you play the Scandinavian Defense.  This was a 1 minute bullet game on live chess.

Whole game

artofbass

A Trap in the Ruy Lopez italian opening. I played black. Known trap but still people fall for it though.

Yes, I've seen this one several times... I think I was a victim in bullet chess of this once.

There's a story behind the post you're about to see. One day at the spot where I occasionally play OTB blitz matches I faced this really strong player named 'Raj'. I think he's an expert or a master candidate. I have played him several times, but I've only beaten him once.  I'll be the first to admit that I was lucky in the game that I won. I played the Urosov Gambit, and managed to keep the initiative until Raj made a blunder.

But this post is not about that game, but another one we had some time later. I tried the same opening, but this time I couldn't come up with the correct way to keep the attack going. I was nervous for some odd reason. Although I have since learned how I should have responded, let's see if the group can tell me how I should have continued the attack. Enjoy!

Maybe he didn't go over it for a reason!  Bxf7 followed by Qb3 snatching the bishop is one option.
