you actually touched a huge controversy of the rules, in my opinion.

if the game mode is checkmate, i think the 20 points should be given to the player that uncover a check where the attacking piece's turn comes before of the turn of the attacked king.

but actually i consider capture the king a very much better mode than checkmate, it really should be a rated variant again

Not common, but I've had about 30 king takes, maybe more in ~3000 games
