Concomitant a) change of the set-up, b) change of the rating calculation in SFA, c) merge of FFA and Solo, d) change of the timing set-up, e) merge with 2p chess variants, f) change of the server (and multiple disconnections and lag because of that), g) change of the arborescence and structure of the rooms/lobbies of 4p chess. All that TOGETHER and in the same tome, which obviously was a bad decision.
Recent changes

We've complained A LOT since the April Catastrophe. So I think it is important to recognise that the recent changes were very good. Not all the problems have been fixed, but most, and I am sure the number of games will increase soon, and strong players will be back.
Recent changes have been a step in the right direction for certain. The starting position and scoring system are two major issues holding back the return of the top player base and since those aren't really being addressed I don't see how your latter statement will be fulfilled atm.

Well, I sincerely do not think they'll revert to the Old Standard as for set-up. BUT: as currently all players see all standard FFA games (contrary to what was the case still 2 weeks ago); AND as all set-ups as for FFA are taken into account as for the rating, it's simply UP TO US to only launch and join Old Standard games (or BRSTI or whatever). If it were the case for 90% of the 2500+ players, I predict that very fast it would become kind of rule: high level games only played as OS. And all players reaching the minimal level would comply as well, I'm sure.
And as for the scoring system, I personally think that the current system is not a bad compromise.

Regarding the set ups, OS still does not appear under the default 4PC lobby queue afaik. Similarly self partner teams OS is a different rating to regular self partner.
