Right now I don't have anything more than bragging rights to offer, but open to discussing a prize. You can join in these events any time,

So I learned a few things about arena tournaments! 1. The computer constantly threatens to auto-resign for you, but it's an empty threat unless you're still waiting to make your first two moves. 2. Games completed after the time limit elapses are not counted for results.

I can live with these things, and I think it's still preferable to a Swiss-style tournament, when one player withdrawing can mess up all the pairings, and you can't join after tournament has started. I think maybe extending the time limit to 1.25 or 1.5 hours might allow for a few more games to be played.

Anyone have any thoughts on modifying the format, or are we reasonably happy?

i think increasing the time limit would be a welcome change!

I don't know too much about the settings but is it possible to have any ongoing games continue until finished after the time elapses? It was weird to quit the game when we were so close to finishing. 

unfortunately with the arena format there isnt any way to avoid that. The format really encourages you to play aggressive and win fast in order to get as many points as you can in the limited timeframe. It has its downsides of course.

I thought the tourney was better with the extra half hour - a few more games could be played.

So sorry that some players got involuntarily withdrawn! I don't know what happened there, but I would recommend messaging chess.com support with the issue. There may be a bug they can address. I think the club arena tournaments are a pretty new feature.
