8 min was created using an exploit and can still be used even after the exploit is patched. They'd have to either find a way to manually ban the time control or completely change the time control formula iirc

I agree overall but now does not seem to be the right time. When/if FFA Rapid is stronger then I'm all for it. Seeing as FFA is struggling and failing to keep players any change that removes something that is somewhat popular (and 8 min seems decently popular, relatively, as around half? 2400+ games are 8 minute) seems unwise right now
The 8 min timer is not in the spirit of rapid. It should be removed and 10min be the minimum.
90% of the 8 min games end in a time scramble and are decided by flagging skills and I don't think such flagging skills are what a rapid leaderboard should be about.
10min should be the minimum for rapid in my opinion .
