Oh yeah, one can also read Dvoretsky's endgame manual for free (although a lot of the content seems to be directed at 2000-rated players+):

Helpful book to study for intermediates (Free):

How to Reassess Your Chess 4th ed.

There is another book named Mastering Chess strategy which I prefer for puzzles and exercises. How to reassess your chess is good for conceptual understanding but if you want examples to study for each concept as well as their corresponding positional puzzles and exercises this book is full of it. I think both books must be used, for their respective purposes.

If you want games to study then
•My 60 memorable games
•Paul Morphy - A modern perspective

•Life and Games of Tal, both biography (maybe autobiography) as well as contain his games you can study

•My Predecessors
