Reti old Indian attack with c3

Hi all came across this idea which is a blacks Czech Defence as white but in some databases  its called the Old Indian Attack under the Reti system.
Anyone used this method of opening instead of the c4 push?
could it be a viable system as a surprise weapon?

The Reti Opening is 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 or something that adapts that basic configuration. The Reti challenges the d5 pawn with Pc4. I've never seen a configuration like this, especially not with e4.

ECO calls 1.Nf3 Reti but I don't know why. It's just like calling 1.e4 a Ruy Lopez.  !.Nf3 is just an opening move.

The position at the end of your line actually looks more like it's on it's way to a KIA

May I ask where did you see this?

Robert Ramirez has used this as white as a Czech def set up I’ve also seen games by Petrosian and Nimzowitch with this set up under Reti old Indian attack, again also seen the same set up named Zuckertort old Indian attack. Data bases used are lichess and red hot pawn, it’s also very dependent on blacks move order but I’m finding you can get this opening most of the time. Agree though it’s looks like a KIA just confused when Reti turned up in the name

Since nobody has responded to this, I will suggest that you post the same article in the KIA inc club. I thought you were a member, but I just looked and you are not. I will send you a member invite and you can decide for yourself. I think you are more likely to get responses there.

I looked for this position after 5.e4 in three online databases and found only four games in which 5...Nf6 was played. White only won one of those games.
