Reviving and re-creating an active "100 Best Games of Chess Study Group"

I recently came across this most excellent topic for a study group and was sad to find it dormant/abandoned.  This is such a rich and rewarding focus to a group and I would like to engage with all members revive this group.  To that end I humbly request the groups support to become the new SA.  I am hoping to get support in this effort and I hope to have as many of you as possible join me in breathing life back into goals and purpose that led to forming this club.

A Little about me.  I am a life long chess lover who rediscovered my passion for the game roughly a year ago as I was looking for a club for my two sons ( whom I taught ).  I found a great club, and joined along with them decided to actually become studious about my chess learning for both myself and my sons benefit.  I played my first tournament in December 2018 ( in the Open section because I like a challenge ) and surprisingly did not get totally crushed (and I earned my initial FIDE rating ).  Outside of the many many many games played on Chess.com, I've since played OTB in individual and Club Team and Regional Team matches and have been making slow and steady progress in many facets of my chess game and understanding ( and I am very much interested in continuing that improvement ).   I believe that studying great chess games and chess games of the greats is a key part of becoming a better and what better way that to do so with a group of passionate chess comrades, dissecting, analyzing, discussing and learning in a mutually beneficial forum such as this club.

I hope you guys will join me and I look forward to getting started.

Regards

One alternative options.

Why not setup your Study Group and we could try to redirect the member list from here to the new group.  This group has been dormant for a long time and a lot of members might be dormant as well - a new group might be a better idea ?

We could monitor this group for new members and redirect them to the new group.

Also did you try contacting the current Super Admin and see if he is willing to transfer it to you.

best of luck.

@Rishi9.  Thanks for the vote of support.  The previous SA has not logged on to Chess.com since 2015 sad.png.  I do have another group I started for the purposes of study but it was set up before I knew about this group and when I first joined Chess.com a year ago ( I had very few of the connections then that I have now after playing against/alongside and participating in group with so many great chess.com folks.  This group had a focus and looks like it was doing well and many of the members are still active in chess.com.  I think this group has a good focus on one of the great and important study points ( worth the effort to revive in its current home and starting with good people like yourself that have ready expressed and interest with your membership ).  happy.png

This is a very good idea, but how are we gonna revive this group? I think we should first continue with forum topics for the next 3 great chess games and see if there are members willing to engage in discussions about the main chess themes there.

Agreed.  I will also reach out to all on the members on the member list individually to personally let them know we are reviving the group and invite them back to participate, partner and contribute to the topics.   It will be work to bring the spark back but work that I believe is worthwhile and beneficial to all.

@silledad is fully qualified to be in charge of this group. As an admin of the "Endgame Lovers Group" I can vouch for @silledad as an active participant who not only follows the rules and guidelines, but also collaborates with informative endgame related topics in the discussion. He also helped our group rid from spammers and those who violate our rules. @silledad will be an excellent admin!

Update all:  I would like to thank you all for your vote of support to allow me to take on the SA role to partner with you to revive the 100 Best Games of Chess Study group.  The chess.com gods have done their part and now it's our turn happy.png.  Looking forward to it ( rolling up my sleeves) ...let's get to it wink.png
