Scandinavian Defense: Viznik Variaton Qe6+ (Accepted) works to Crispy Creme perfection

Sort:
Viznik

The Scandinavian Defense: Viznik Variation continues to be a menacing and dominate opening for black, developing every day in Viznik Labs. Today's game we see how the Viznik Varation Accepted (VVA / SDVVA) continues to prove to be one of the most dominate openings for black, and a devastating mistake for white that leads to rapid development for black, a strong centralized position, and leaves white behind in development.

While traditionalists may scoff at the Viznik Variation, with testing, implementation, and real-life use, it is quickly becoming a radically fierce and dominate opening for black. The opening is particularly powerful in bullet and blitz, with the main line being easy to memorize and providing tons of options for black while white wastes time trying to counter - there is hope for the SDVV Qe6+ to become a real rapid+ opening in the near future.

Batman2508

Dude I don't get it white didn't even play all the bet moves in opening and still got a good position???

And yes black got development, but to bad squares!

This didn't really pose any problems for white and after bxh7+ probably winning

Batman2508

White also had a huge space advantage and a much more easier position to play...

Wolf227

If White just plays Be2 on move 4 then White already has a better position.

Can someone explain to me why blocking the Queen check with the bishop is bad?

It isn't.  In fact it's better than blocking with your queen because black has a harder time pushing his e-pawn and finishing development.

assassin3752

white is +1.2 after black plays qe6+

assassin3752

not sure how its gunna become a rapid opening, if white already has a clear advantage

That's literally one of the most false blanket statements I've ever heard

"You won because your opponent blundered" is an acceptable excuse even up to super gm level. He blundered, so he lost, isn't that obvious?? Clearly the opening didn't matter, because he lost to a blunder! This proves that openings don't matter.

If anything it proves that openings DO matter, because his opponent did not know how to increase his advantage. Since your opponent does not know how to use his OPENING advantage, that means that it has an influence on the number of openings you CAN play, therefore, yes, openings do matter.

In short, the fact that his opponent failed to punish him is proof that openings do matter. You MUST know the dubious lines as well as the good ones.

"Oh no, but I can win in the mainline lopez, but I score terribly against the schliemann defense! Everyone knows that the schlieman is garbage! IM Collins said so himself in his book! I don't have to study openings, I just get cheesed in a crap opening!"
