Great! We will be looking forward to follow your progress as a chess player and a father!
Scarblac's Training Journal
Yesterday I went to the monthly training session for 1850+ players at our chess club, given by an IM. He believes the best way to improve is to solve many "mixed exercises" -- positions where there is sometimes a direct win, sometimes an advantage to get, and sometimes you need to defend. There may be tactics, or just a 1-2 move small plan. This is similar to real games, where there isn't someone whispering "white wins!" in your ear.
Yesterday we did six of these, I thought I'd copy them here. I managed about half of them (I'm really only good at tactics :-)). Perhaps I'll post the solutions in a few days, anyway if you think you have solutions message me and I'll give comments (we discussed various variations). White to move everywhere.
Hi all, I love the idea of this group. Hopefully I can update my journal now and then. If I don't, my excuse is that I'll become a father any day now :-)
I want to analyze my OTB games, and I'll post the results here. My current rating is +- 1900, and I hope to some day reach 2000, though I've been plateauing for years now.
