At first I didn't like Scid vs PC but now I use it exclusively. I suppose it's a matter of personal preference, but I really like the separate windows. With SCID, I never was able to come up with a docking config that worked well for me.
In the old SCID the [Move to ___ ] options sometimes work in unpredictable ways. It's hard to get something over on the left side and hard to get something under the playing board. You have to open the features in certain sequences (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc) and also arrange them in certain sequences in order to get specific arrangements.
For example; try to get two windows to the left of the playing board; one on top and the other on the bottom.
With Scid vs PC those options such the tree window or the comment editor open very quickly from the toolbar icon and close just as quickly when you don't need them either by clicking the close [X] or the toolbar icon. They will re-open in the same position on your screen as they were when you last closed them. I find that to be very convenient since the desired initial location can be determined very quickly via drag and drop.
In my desktop set-up, I have a second, smaller monitor on the side which is a perfect spot to put the game list.
Another problem with the old SCID is that whenever I mouse-over any smallest part of it, it jumps to the front covering up whatever else I may be using.
Is it possible to dock all/some of the windows?
It is really annoying, all these little windows all over the show, and you cant easily switch between applications.
Maybe I must just stick with the normal old interface....
