Season 2018 USCL

Just checking in whether Missouri wants to play in the upcoming season. Last season, the team didn't participate which is regrettable considering that one of the finest chess centers is in St. Louis. If a tiny state like New Hampshire can play Missouri certainly should be able to do it. All it takes is one - preferably two - people to step up to the plate. Any takers?

I'm carrying way too many games now for any enthusiasm at all.

Most of the big deal chess players in St Louis are only here for the big bag of money Rex is dishing out. New Hampshire on the other hand has always had a large number of active players who did so without any financial incentive.

When the group is inactive for long periods of time, it's difficult to re-group.  I play some vote chess and a few games but can't keep up with a dozen.

Well, all that is needed is someone joining the USCL group and accept/offer challenges to the opponents. That part is easy. The biggest challenge may be getting the required number of people of play which would be 3 in Division 3 or 6 in Division 1. If Division 2 sounds like too much of a challenge then perhaps Div 3 would be the fit.

The best remedy against being inactive is becoming active again. For example, I just rejoined a gym. It has been doing me good so far ...

I'm relatively new to everything chess, but I want to get more involved - especially as St. Louis is developing some chess centers outside of Chess HOF.

What does this involve? Is it online or is there travel involved? Does it matter that I am... how should I say.. sub-par??

Any information is much appreciated.

Has this season already started? If not, is Missouri still in need of players?

Yes, the season has started and is currently in registration for Round 2. So unfortunately, it is too late at this point to join in. Missouri will have to wait until next season to be part of it. It is key to get active members into admin positions. It isn't a whole lot of work but someone has to do it.

Okay, thanks for letting me know. happy.png

I haven't played in any of these state team matches, so do you think you could point me in the right direction to gain a little more information?
