Server Disconnect

Why does either player get a loss when your server goes down.  At a minimum cancel the match rather than giving someone a loss.

Chess.com makes a player lose the game because they do not know if they actually had some technical difficulties or if they just rage quitted.

Perhaps, but chess.com should know if their server is having issues.  Why punish us when it is their problem?

Possible hackers/cheaters?

No you can see that you are disconnected...there is a notice on the top of the board.  When the server is going down both players are shown as disconnected.  The one to play when the server goes down gets the lose even if they are clearly winning.

It says disconnected for both for the one who acually IS disconnected

It shows it for me and I know my connection is fine.  Plus I asked my opp and he said it said we were both disconnected on his screen as well.

Either chess.com com had a error 502(server err) for everyone or it was a coincidence...

This is in Variants. Not Live Chess. This has happened many times, so it's not a coincidence.

Yes I know that. So it either might be on their end or your end. That is why I don't do this. Variants is still very buggy
