I don't think that would be cool
why?
Because it's a completely different game, not like chess, chaturanga only changes the moves of some pieces, if you were going to put chaturanga as an example.
Shogi is a Chess. (Japanese chess) and it is really good and beautifull.
But the pieces is in Japanese languages Which most of other nations can't understand them(Japanese language).
and in Japanese chess (Shogi) draw's are less.
Chess has gone from Asia to Europe and America ,world.

What is Shogi?
Shogi, sometimes referred to as "Japanese chess," is a board game for two players, in which the object is to use your 20 pieces to capture your opponent's king.
The game is popular in Japan, with an estimated 20 million people able to play and a professional association running major tournaments throughout the year.

"The association puts the nation’s shogi-playing population at around 10 million"

that's not an argument.
Anyway, I played 39 games, with 1685 rating. And is not like chess. I won 1 game by checkmate, and is not possible to win without rooks, or too difficult.

Yes it is. Chaturanga is chess with some piece changes, and the precursor of chess, shogi is a completely different board game, as in the monopoly example.
