sicilian defence
I think we can go a little bit deeper than that in the Sicilian, I've been "studying" it today (or so I scheduled it...)
So, the first thing, I don't intend to explore the variations since they require a lot of memorization. The main replies for 1. ... c5 is either 2. Nf3 or 2. Nc3, being Nf3 (Open Sicilian) used most times.
So... I was looking at Bobby Fischer main reply to 2. Nf3, and he uses 2. ... d6, and Magnus uses 2. ... Nc6, interestingly enough, people that play the Sicilian against Fischer, use mainly 2. ... Nf3, and against Carlsen they use 2. ... d6, point being that they are each less familiar with that (?)
I don't intend to play the Sicilian myself anytime soon since there are so many lines... So, what I want to explore is a good reply to play against 1. ... c5 and decided to learn how to play some Closed Sicilian lines, bc/ they are played far less and ended up stumbling upon the Grand Prix Attack
Don't know much from here, the analysis still shallow but I think it is a start, hope this will be useful to the beginners such as myself
