Simple mathematical question!

the issue is the parentheses. "the fact that the 2(4) is an expression consisting of inseparable numbers and is not the same as "2 x 4" which are two separate, individual number values which can be worked-on separately."

my scientific calculator says 1
I looked at their answers, looked at the question, was like "yeah i dont think so", got out my TI and double checked

upon further investigations 8÷2*(2+2)=16
but the real answer is still one, right

I think it is because with 8÷2*(2+2) you go regularly from left to right, so 2+2 first, then 8÷2=4 than 4*4. But with 8÷2(2+2), 2(2+2) is seen as one number so you solve that first, 8, and 8 divided by 8 equals 1
What is8÷2(2+2). Is it 1 or 16.
