stuck around 900

hey guys,

I have been progressing pretty consistently over the summer, going from like 400 when I started in April to high 800s now. I get pretty solid wins but still have the occasional really bad loss. I'm wondering how the heck I'm supposed to get past 900 and 1000. I have wins over a couple players rated around 1000 or 1100 but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Most of my mistakes are supposedly tempo mistakes and I think don't blunder too often.

Suggestions?

Don't get disheartened by your losses.
Play and practice as much as possible.
Sometimes you might need to take a break.
Analyze your games to see what you could have done better, or go over it with a friend.

These tips helped me get past some major rating barriers. Work hard and you'll get there!

Watch some videos on gothamchess or other good YouTubers, they will help you a lot. I was stuck around 900 for around 6 months (so I took a 5 month break), and when I came back, I started looking into chess on youtube. I found gothamchess, and one year later, I'm now above 2000 elo. Most of his videos are helpful and have at least 3-4 lessons in each of them.

I am confused, your lowest ELO on your chess account was not 900, it was 1500.

When I played you, your middle game was fine, but the endgame and opening need some work, the endgame more so. You should also focus more on protecting your pawns.

I am in a similar situation.

@GreenmanChess I quickly reviewed one of your games to see what is causing you to not advance in your rating. It is normal for a 800-1000 to get stuck without someone giving them advice or instructions on what to do. I am not an expert and only a strong club player so my advice is that you need to work on your opening and developing your pieces more effectively.

if you want to improve then probably get some courses (I use chessable and chessly)
