When a player captures gray pieces he acts like a marauder. This should not be awarded. My idea (negative points for capturing gray pieces) is not so wacky.
If you prefer "eating" a pieces instead of capturing them, then that player acts like a vulture or hyena. Not very attractive. ![]()
Suggestion: Capturing dead (grey) pieces earns +0.5 points
Being a marauder is rewarded in real life, why not in it's abstract chessical representation? You don't go to eat the dead corpses. You go to steal their weapons and armor. If you don't, someone else will go and take them. ![]()
The game is to get the win, and greys are not any part of winning, basically only to avoid or use for cover as it would make sense.
If someone likes to be a marauder he does this after a battle, not during the battle. If a officer will see his soldier marauding during a battle he will kill that soldier himself.
What's dead is dead, hopefully like the ideas presented in this thread.
(I will however give them 5 points and a gold coin for their efforts.)
@BabYagun well, having eliminated an opponent qualifies for an ended battle, so marauding becomes permissible by the officers for a while. Being a marauder has other drawbacks though. While you are scavenging dead corpses (+0.5), other soldiers may be successful at hunting juicy live queens (+9)! But if flirting with captured queens is not someone's thing, scavenging corpses may be his next best option. ![]()
