Suggestion: feedback boxes

The gathering of feedback can be very useful, but there are two problems with our current system. It is difficult to find the way to give feedback, and it is time consuming to do it. I would presume that many players look  around for a system to say ideas and complaints, and not finding any obvious one, just don't say anything. Or, even if they find the forum, they maybe to unsure about it's purpose, or too shy to say anything, or just don't care enough too write out a forum post. I don't think they know of the discord, and the third option, contacting admins, is not really a system. Our current system is not well designed to gather ideas from anyone who is not from the minority of people who have the time and energy to track down everything. The result of this is that almost all our feedback comes from strong players, who are comfortable and familiar with the workings of the system. We need representation from all the community.

The solution, in my mind, is simple. Simply put a button that pops up to a comment and submit box in the /variants. This could be, perhaps, in the upper left hand corner, and it needs to be a bit bigger than the forum button.

There are two drawbacks. First, this needs to be coded, and while I don't know how difficult it would be, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. The specific placing I mentioned could be adjusted. Secondly, this would require a bit more work on admins part to process the comments. I believe that a. The rewards would be worth it and more importantly b. This system doesn't necessarily need to be perfectly maintained

Quite simply, if we want to maximize our understanding of all our players wants and needs, we need a simpler, more intuitive system. The idea outlined above, in my mind, is the best way to do it

Thanks

we need 5D chess

It's not like the people who actually give feedback (including myself) are in big numbers.

Which is unfortunate, but I am almost positive we can get more feedback than we do.

I'll note that almost everybody who posts here are either young or strong players. Things will skew this direction anyway, but it's not that we can't get older and lower rated players, they are just harder to reach, we need to make it easier to reach them, because they are an important part of the player base too

There are less than 100 people who actually give constructive feedback regarding 4pc currently, which is no good for anyone in this scenario. I completely agree that we need a place to drop off our feedback so that we can give our takes on the changes now and any more that come in the future.

Creating forums for our feedback seems clunky and it's not always likely the admins are going to see it. Plus all of the constructive feedback would all be in one place instead of being scattered across different forums.

This seems like a good idea to me! happy.png Of course, I’m not the guy who would need to do the work XD

@HSCCCalebBrown

To understand exactly what you are indicating here is:

Do you want to achieve greater social and communicative participation of the player base?

If so, I find it interesting, since I don't feel everyone's participation, that is to say that if we are a group of 22,245 people, why do I have the feeling that I am talking to less than 100 people?

I have several theories, but it has always been like this, it doesn't surprise me anymore.

Because it is one thing to deliver the tools for the audience to use and quite another thing is for the audience to have the real intention of using those tools.

Green_Sleeves

It seems like people would be more likely to use a built-in, convenient, private message box, so it would encourage more feedback. That’s the idea behind the suggestion, right?

I would like to hear your theories on this.

Yes,

If we want to maximize people's feedback, are they more likely to respond if they have to find a forum, scroll through it, and type feedback. Or what if we just have an obvious button in this system itself that you click on, type what you want and send.

Let's say we change the starting position again. If we have a button in the lobby, and a button at the end of games that is obvious, won't we get more feedback? Or even a pop-up thing. If I have an opinion one way or the other, and I see a button that says "type feedback" I will maybe do that. Now, a person will probably just close the tab. Right now you have to do searching, and that cuts out almost everybody. A five second thing that is obvious, should get much more responses.

Creeperbot33

we should add 5D chess

If this were to happen, the admins would need to promote the feedback box so people will actually give feedback instead of making it available but not saying where to find it, nor saying it exists. This is probably the main reason why we barely see anyone playing old standard.

martinaxo

I like the idea, for while in collaboration with your request, I have created a book of fixed suggestions in the group.

I will upload your proposal to the Administration, thank you @HSCCCalebBrown

HSCCCB

Yes green sleeves. To my understand, things that impact feedback are too much time, confusion, and apathy. An obvious button that asks you to say feedback that takes one button to click, a text box to type, and a button to submit is better. To my understanding, systems work better the more you cut out. Because people hate inconvenience, we need to cut that down. Right now it is slow and inconvenient, and that's why the only people are people who either enjoy the forums or are really invested in the game

HSCCCB

Thanks martinaxo. So sarien, the idea is that it should promote itself, as long as, and this maybe what you're saying, it is put in convient places I will see.

Creeperbot33

so no ones gonna see me?

HSCCCB

This thread is not the best place for that, but I did see you, maybe I should have said something, anyway

martinaxo

@Sairentogeiza Sure wink

Adding myself to the theories that it indicates @HSCCCalebBrown :

1.- Not everyone likes to express their opinions publicly.
2.- Not everyone speaks English, and they don't like translating endless posts either.
3.- Not everyone wants to enter public debates.
4.- others, etc.

That is why I think that what it indicates @HSCCCalebBrown
is a very good idea, but in any case that idea is still private or internal and not social.

Yes, if it's put in a place where it's easy to miss it then it might as well not exist.

Edit: I meant the admins would need to promote it, and yes it should be put in a convenient place.
