Suggestion for Other Time Zones

This comes up all the time.  See this thread for lengthy discussion: https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/the-saturday-event-time

I don't want to go to two events.  That's double the workload.

The time is after Titled Tuesday.  I don't want them to overlap.  I want people to be able to watch Titled Tuesday and then go straight to playing Untitled Tuesday.  The other possibility would be to move it before Titled Tuesday, but that's a bad time for North America, where most of our participants are from; many of them would be at work or school.

Our Saturday tournaments are on a rotating schedule to cater to different time zones every month.  When we have a Saturday event at a good time for Eurasia, hardly anyone shows up.  This tells me that we don't actually have very many people from Eurasia that want to play.

When that changes and those Saturday tournaments at a good time for Eurasia start to fill up, we might look into putting every other Tuesday event before Titled Tuesday instead of after.  But until then, I don't want to make things worse for the majority of our regular participants in North America to help people that, for the most part, don't show up to tournaments even when it's at a good time.

But we want to participate in UTT! It's very similar to the official Titled Tuesday and it would be fun to play in it, but... creators of the UTT are just SOOO stubborn because they do not want more workload! Come on, invite more people to help you, guys, with this awesome idea) Let's make this cool EVENT open and possible for everyone!

Sorry, if I was a little bit rude)

This month's Saturday event was at 17:00 UTC.  You did not play, and only a small handful of people from Asia were present: https://www.chess.com/tournament/live/untitled-tuesday-saturday-event-882020-1470520

Last month's Saturday event was at 09:00 UTC.  You did not play, and only a small handful of people from Asia were present: https://www.chess.com/tournament/live/saturday-event---july-1307307

If you won't play in the tournaments that are at a good time for you, why should I expect you to play if I add more events for you?

Admins should reconsider, really. We need equal participation and that can only happen if the time was changed or they introduce another UTT for the other part of the world. 🙄

He (MGleason) has said it before and he'll say it again. There are Saturday events that are good for Asian time zones, but those have a terrible turnout. There is no evidence shown that it would be different if they got a weekly event.

We REALLY do not need these Saturday events!!

It's like someone would say to you: "Is Speed Chess championship's time not suitable for you? Then play in the parody of it on Saturday."

sapphireglacier

riot?!

MGleason

The Saturday events follow the exact same format.  They actually count double towards the annual leaderboard.

And yet, when they're at a good time for Eurasia and a bad time for North America, they're poorly attended.

Hey can you just pin the big thread in which we discussed this and delete a thread every month with the same arguments?
