Suggestion: Forum Moderator or something along those lines

It's been a while since people started requesting this, but it's definitely something we need. Random people seem to join clubs out of nowhere with only the intention to troll and waste everyone's time by posting nonsense topics unrelated to 4pc or variants. I'm not naming names here, but you know who you are. Would it really hurt to just make someone, maybe a 4pc/variants admin, or elect someone to be a forum mod? I'd like to hear your opinions on this.

Shouldn't all 4P admins be admins in this group, and all variants admins be admins in the Variants club? That makes sense to me. And if that's the case, then you'd have lots more forum moderators.

That is the case; I think what Cheese meant is someone appointed to check forums on a more regular basis so that they're clean 24/7, as opposed to needing to manually contact an admin in the hopes that they'll find posts before an argument starts

I ignore the trolls but they get annoying sometimes

Oh. I thought I’d seen that some 4P admins weren’t listed here.

@TheCheesePhoenix

The first thing we need, and which seems to be true, is that we need an Official Four Player Chess YouTube account. So that this account represents the platform in the best way. Talking topics by virtue of playing here, with educational topics, we can add a puzzle section, we can teach new strategies and tactics, etc.

It is also true that we can quickly ban any annoying player in the forums, for that more moderation would be implemented quickly and effectively. Let's say that your proposal is not difficult to implement.

Over the past few weeks, I have been in conversation with direct chess'com staff regarding these matters. Starting from the base, that no user can discredit another player publicly in the forums. I am still gathering more material and information on this matter.

The important and truly main thing here is to have fun on the platform and that it is useful for your Chess growth, knowing all the variants offered by this site.

Let's make DoubleSpeedRocks the mod for real this time. Who is with me?

If elected or appointed, I would seriously accept. Especially since I am now starting to learn the difference between opposites and teams.

Moderating on here sounds like it could be an absolute nightmare without moderation tools/automation and such... just guessing, never tried.

I moderate 50+ million users on Reddit (I mod two "default" subreddits, plus about 15 other ones, so there could be close to 100m users) and have been doing it for 10+ years. Kind of tired of it, to be honest, but I have an opinion:

I think our problem is that there's *nobody at all* moderating *anything at all* (or at least it seems that way), and we need someone to remove obvious advertisements and troll posts *at the bare minimum*.

I don't think it has anything to do with how many players or what variant the club is related to, and only has to do with the task of moderation. We're not asking people to specialize in chess, we need them to moderate forums.

TL;DR We need people who can delete posts, and for them to be notified whenever someone sends a report.

The good idea of an official youtube site (4pc), it was not proposed by me. If I know your channel for a long time, and I am already subscribed to it. It would be great to see you represent 4PC in the best possible light at all times, and on all types of social media. Therefore, continue working with the same enthusiasm as always, without harming anyone, and promote this sport and its variants to the maximum. This is how all YT, Twitch, etc. streamers work, that is the synergy that is experienced day by day.
Success!

I don't think this has anything to do with YouTube

If a person is offensive - click Report, if they post nonsense/offtopic  - click Downvote. This is a standard for all chess.com clubs and forums.

Moderators have a tool.

Well we can't all moderate 50 million people on reddit. We have to leave you something to brag about at the next high school reunion.

This is a discussion about moderation.

You're derailing the discussion to A) plug your YouTube project and B) launch personal attacks and insults at people discussing the actual topic.

Please try to stay on topic, and if you absolutely must engage in personal insults, send them to me in private so that nobody else has to read them.

I am going to be accepting the new mod post when it is offered to me. I'm here 8 to 12 hours out of 24 a day, so why not put my time to good use. I believe I understand opposites well enough to not confuse it with teams. Everything else, I'm good with.

“Everyone” loved it, except the moderator who deleted the post. 🤔

How did I make a personal insult? Maybe just grow up and accept that everyone isn't going to agree with you all the time. I get hate all the time and I don't go snitching about it. Just grow up. It's all in good fun. We like you, don't get mad or sad.

You literally just told me to "grow up" while claiming you don't use personal insults. Just give it a rest, big man.
