Table Bases

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've used SCID, so I'm trying to catch up.

Can anyone help with regards to tablebases? How to use them? Do they come with SCID or do you download them from elsewhere?

Apologies if this is simple, but I've only been using SCID to keep an eye on my databases, and looking at masters' games, so everything else is a bit of a mystery to me...

Cheers!

I find this webpage to be so easy and convenient that I have never bothered to try to set up tablebases in SCID. There is another HERE but it is not as user friendly.

@Helipacter

Tablebases do not come prepackaged with SCID.

You have to download Nalimov-type tablebases (available from several online sources) and then tell SCID the location of their directory on your hard drive.

Under the SCID Options menu click Tablebase Directory and specify the directory where you have downloaded the tablebases.  You can specify up to four directories.

For more information, look under Tablebases in the SCID Help Index.

BUT

Is there a website where I can download the file & set it up to run off-line. I understand they are massive files & an external harddrive should do the trick
