Hi everyone, thought I'd share this game where a tactic forced a resignation. It's my first so maybe I'm inappropriately happy about it. But maybe it can be a good example to my fellow beginners :)

one note about our ELO. I guess the pgn states the post game result? we were about even at 1400 when we started this game. I'm not a tiny bully!

after analysis it appears i missed an opportunity for mate to force the tactic :( so nevermind..... or let it be an example of needing better vision

I would like to share this position with you that I got to in an OTB blitz game:

See if you can work out the moves that I made in the game, and then post what you would have done in that position. I'm interested if anyone thought the same as me.

nice, I see what you did there. not that mine is an authoritative opinion, but since you asked, I probably would have kept his king busy with my rook and queen and just hope I can mate the opponent before he can convert his pawns. would that work? pretty decisive victory for you though!

Yes; your tactic does work. I tried it against Chessmaster DS:

And this was my opponent's first blitz game; whereas I had played a few blitz games before (5|0 time control if anyone's interested). He is a much better player under rapid time control (usually 15|0) when he has time to think about his move.

Also, here's a position from another game that I played (a 15|0 against a stronger opponent than the previous):
