Team endpoint: enhancement request to access vote chess games

Hi,

The team (club, group, ...) endpoint provides access to a list of matches a team has played.

I would like access to a the list of vote chess games that the team has played, so that they may be downloaded via api.chess.com.

This is the practical minimum for vote chess support, I think. Initially just the PGNs of the games would be fine and I wouldn't think difficult? Comments and lists of members who played are not high on my list, and the list of members via the website is for some reason only available while logged in and to people who were signed up to play in the particular vote chess game.

Rationale: To evaluate a team's vote chess w.r.t. possible engine use requires use of the website and downloading every game individually.

Concur.

I would also like to see Team Live Matches added but I think that's already on the development plan.

I'd like to see live matches too – some club reports about active and inactive members could use it – but I thought it was time to give a nudge to my requests for vote chess access. Fingers crossed we get both features. happy.png

I agree. It seems odd to me that this hasn't been done already, or that there aren't any plans to do so? Most of all I'd value the lists of members taking part in each vote chess game. That's useful for assessing which club members are taking part in club events & which are not.

That calls for a website enhancement too, as currently you can only see the "Members" tab for a team if you signed up to the game.

I'm not sure that there is a good reason not to make that public; can anyone think of one?

If there is a reason, perhaps team admins would be OK? (And I'd like to be able to see both teams' members if I'm an admin of both teams!)

Plus there's the little issue that players aren't shown after an admin kicks them out.

Thus I'm asking for the minimum first: the PGNs. I won't complain if I get more, of course! wink.png

Good point Giles. Although would it necessitate a 'website enhancement' exactly?

I was thinking give the team members data as part of the VC game endpoint. Whether that means the current team (games in progress) or those at the time the game ended, that's up to the developers of course but any information would be useful.

Strange for it to be treated as 'in confidence' really - what would you think if a football game was run that way?

"Bale got around the French defender with number 3. He shoots... and it's a goal, the French goalkeeper with number 1 didn't catch this great shot!" -- yeah, that would be weird. grin.png

Oh, I agree the absence of information via the website is odd, but in the interest of keeping the website information and what can be accessed via api.chess.com the same, I thought I should at least mention it.

I'm not going to cry into my beer if I can get data via api.chess.com that I can't get via the website, but it would be a little odd!

Well I can think of at least two precedents for supplying data via the API that isn't otherwise available: The player ID & the club ID.

Neither of those can be found by any searching of the website.

If memory serves I think that the opponent team list used to be visible at the VC game conclusion. But I'm old and possibly mistaken.

When I click on the api.chess.com link, why does it say

{"status":"error","message":"Directory listing forbidden.","more_info":"https:\/\/www.chess.com\/developers"}

1 you don't have access to the top level address

And

2 what has it to do with this thread?
