Wouldn't make sense to do that because it would be 2v1 and obviously 2 will win.

just a suggestion-can there be like a button and when you press it it goes to all chat and if you press it again it goes to teams because nobody wants to type/all

I think he means if his partner resigns, he would like to take over for his partner’s pieces during the partners turn. Like control both the teams and take each turn as normal except he controls his and what was previously his partners. If he did mean just get his pieces without the turn then yes that wouldn’t work as you explain.
I have an idea. In four player chess teams, if one player resigns, could his teammate take over his pieces? And then the first team to run out of players loses.
