Here I am going for the Fried Liver Attack again. This time the player did a good job defending against it, but my placement was too strong and they resigned.

No, just one I’ve trained myself to completely recognize if it’s used against me, and if I see an opportunity, I tend to go for it myself. It’s highly effective.

The Hedgehog is a pawn formation in chess adopted usually by Black that can arise from several openings. Black exchanges the pawn on c5 for White's pawn on d4, and then places pawns on the squares a6, b6, d6, and e6. These pawns form a row of "spines" behind which Black develops their forces. Typically, the bishops are placed on b7 and e7, knights on d7 and f6, queen on c7, and rooks on c8 and e8 (or c8 and d8). Although Black's position is cramped, it has great latent energy, which may be released if Black is able to play ...b5 or ...d5 at some point. These pawn breaks are particularly effective because White usually places pawns on c4 and e4 (the Maróczy Bind).

I'm trying to master this system for Black, but I'm still having a negative result.

An AMAZING defense that I’ve never seen against my Fried Liver Attack! This person fought HARD!!!  Very impressed with THEM! (Accuracy on both our parts was HORRIBLE, but what a FUN battle!)

Played this game in a tourney against Ou812Papa. I ended up losing but my 1st 15 moves got me to mate in 2 I just didnt see it .

That looked like an amazing game Marti! Yeah that pawn wasn’t worth losing your Rook on #16. Ouch! Great play! 

It was mate on my 15th move if I went rook f2 and then after ate his bishop for a discover checkmate. I just went with the bishop instead . It was my first time playing the queens gambit as well.
