So I was just testing variant and then in one game this happened where all the fairy pieces turned into queens when they are not supposed to, then when game ends the queens turn back to what fairy pieces they are but since queen and fairy pieces move different it says for example Qxd4 is illegal
tacticspotter, you need a post a link to the game, or at least a screenshot, or some pgn4. Otherwise, how are we supposed to guess what exactly you were doing when "testing variant"? what variant??
Much better. I think you first posted a link to the wrong games (was one where you resigned on move 2).
The recorded game is:
1. δf3-g4=Q .. δc5-d5=Q .. δf12-f11=Q .. δl9-k10=Q
2. δe3-e4=Q .. Qd5xQe4 ..
So the server thought all pawn were being promoted to Queen.
Q: during the actual game, what did pawns promote to? lots of different pieces?
the pawns promote to many fairy pieces but rooks, knights and bishops are still working fine i think it thought it is set to "promote to QRBN"
Not really a "bug", as such, but I couldn't find a way to start a new thread (sorry).
I was looking for rules regarding "claiming the win". I'd assumed it was when an opponent was comfortably ahead, but I was just in a game where it was down to the two of us, and there was just a three point difference.
Both of us had multiple pieces and a decent chance of winning... it seemed really unsporting.
@RichardCat if a win claim happened it means there was more than a 20 point difference when only the two were left. Maybe you looked at the points AFTER the claim (you get +20 because win claiming is basically exactly the same thing as resigning; you resign but because you are >20 points ahead of your opponent, you still end up 1st), meaning there was a difference of 23 points. You need to take points into account as you are checkmating \ giving someone else an opportunity to checkmate and ask yourself if you'll have enough to play for 1st in the 2-person phase.
To start a new thread click the large, green "New Topic" button on the right
Thank you for that, much appreciated.
I actually got a "autowin" today, when I was only scant points in the lead. Strange.
And thanks for the tip about the new topic, though unfortunately that button isn't displaying for me?
When you double check kings, if one of them is a dead king you no longer get points according to current rules. However, it seems that if you happen to checkmate the dead king as part of that double check (checkmate on dead king and check on a live opponent), you still get the points for the double check. This seems like it would be really strange if it is intended functionality, so I'm guessing it is a bug. See attached screenshot and points that show this done in analysis mode post-game. In the case of a double check, red doesn't get +1, but when checkmating the green king, red gets +21 even though he should only get +20 for delivering mate on the dead king.
This probably isn't a bug, but... how do you post a new thread on the forums? Do you need to be a gold member to do so or something?
Not really a bug, but it feels like there should really be a "Standard" filter for the game list, I always feel like I am missing this when I'm trying to look over the games there are happening
https://www.chess.com/4-player-chess?g=4221183-63 something wrong with autoclaim, unless 4th place is considered winning now
