The kangaroo opening as an alternate defensive option

Hey fellow unorthodox openers, why don't we try to use the Kangaroo (Keres) Defence in some of our vote and online matches?

This mainly has value as a shock weapon but has its advantages in the fact that White has already played 2. c4 and so cannot play 3. c3 to block the bishop.

White's legal responses are:

3. Nc3 Nf6 transposes to a Nimzo-indian.

3. Nd2 Nf6 4. Nc3 transposes to a Bogo-Indian (groan!)

3. Bd2 forces an exchange and 3... Bxd2+ 4. Nxd2 Nf6 5.Nf3 is another Bogo-Indian (bigger groan!)

3. Qd2?? loses a queen.

Hm. I don't see a problem with giving it a try in one game, and seeing where it goes from there. Thanks for the idea! Smile
