The power of the Nimzo-Larsen bishop on full display.

I've started to develop a liking for the Nimzo-Larsen. The bishop on b2 can became a monster, and I mean a monster if black is not careful. It's also uncommon so you're surprising your opponent. In this game my bishop does just that. Towards the end he played the move g6, which made by bishop control the h8 square. And soon enough he simply couldn't defend against checkmate. Here's the game.

Nimzo Larsen ignores basic principles and so it is bad

Cobra2721

It doesn't control the centre

The b2 bishop controls the d4 and e5 squares. Eventually white will break in the center with d4.

LazyDog24

And what principles is it violating? You're developing a piece

UUUUUMMMMM

bruh have you forgotten that it controls the a1-h8 diagonal, which is, along with the h1-a8 diagonal, the longest diagonal?

The principle to take the center with pawns (although a lot of modern openings don’t follow those “principles”)

You're taking the center with pawns in these openings, You're just not doing it instantly. For example in the KID (A solid opening choice for black) black allows white to grab the center but will strike back with e5 or c5 in the future.
