Me! Me!
Thematic Tournaments Anyone?
Our first Thematic, Italian Game, has been going on for a bit now. We are about half way finished with Round 1. Anyone learn anything? Would this be an opening you might invest in learning more about? Have you thought of how to handle things if your opponent uses this opening?
We are just wrapping up our first two thematic tournaments: Italian Game and Sicilian Defense. Should we start a new thematic each month? bi-monthly? or quarterly? I believe I may have started these too close together in the beginning.
What openings would you like to see? I have Italian and Sicilian marked off, and French Defense, Ruy Lopez, and Slav Defense still on the list to do. What openings do you need to complete your Chess.com Book Achievements? You can check under Awards, and Books should be in the list somewhere, even in the app!
Chess.com has, under your account, an Award page. There are Achievements, Countries, Trophies, and Books (Openings used.) With this in mind, I thought others might be interested in experimenting with unfamiliar openings, and add to this Book Award list! What do you get for filling it all up? Just satisfaction and experience from both sides of each opening.
If you are interested in participating (unrated of course, after all we are experimenting, and we shouldn't penalize the learning process), please post a comment here. A question you can answer is should a few be Live ( like Thematic Thursday?) or strictly a Daily small unrated tournament? Please vote in your comment!
