I'm attacking the bishop and the knight who just took one of my minor pieces.
Can I take the bishop, with an attack on the White Queen, and then take the knight winning a minor piece as a result?
Do I win anything by checking the King?
So my candidates are
1...Qc6+
2...Qxd7
3...dxc3
The most forcing candidate is 1...Qc6+ 2. Kf1 or 2.Nf3 addresses the check, and White is not any better than before.
1...dxc3 is the next most forcing move. This attacks the Queen right away. The question is does the knight have any in-between moves? Yes 2.Nxf6+ gxf6 3.Qxc3 and White has a better pawn structure.
Obviously the knight must be taken. It can be taken with either 1...Rxd7 or 1...Qxd7 which is one of my orignal candidates.
It's obvious that after the knight is taken the White bishop needs to address the d-pawn. Furthermore, the bishop has no safe squares, so it has no choice but to take on d4. If I take with 1...Qxc7, there will be two pieces attacking the bishop so let's analyze 1...Qxd7 first.
1...Qxd7 2.Bxd4 Qxd4 3.Qxd4 and Black is up 2 pawns.
