Great post, and thanks for covering all the variations. If black chooses to accept the gambit pawn he should forget about holding on to it, and just concentrate on development.  The only thing I might be able to add is that, if black is aware of these traps, then e3 might not be the best move for white, compared to e4.  I am not a QG player myself, so take my opinon with a grain of salt :)
