Tips in Chess.

So I've been working on improving at chess and a lot of the chess books that I've been reading have a summary of the lesson broken down into points (active pieces, weak squares, etc.). My question is, are you allowed to write down those points down and then refer to them in an actual game? Or do you have to memorize them. OTB probably wouldn't allow it, but what about online?

Online should be no different than OTB. I don't think notes are allowed.

If you're playing Daily chess, notes would be allowed. For live games, no outside assistance is allowed.

Not an open book test for rated. un rated go at it. But just doing a chessable course will probably get your pattern recognition trained better

No you cannot refer to any outside information during a game, OTB or on-line.
