for about a year or so, i have had a break from chess. I play in tournaments in real life all the time, but i want to get better. In fide, i am about 1300~1400 and in online, used to be 1700~1800. I've been doing tactics and opening theory but i want to know a way to improve efficiently such as a new way to think when playing. What are some key things i should concentrate on and how do i get better? please help

Utilize your membership by doing tactics concentrate on Middle game and Endgame rather than opening.

Take only one opening and keep on playing games on that opening.

Analyze every game you play and try not to make mistakes.

I have also created a blog regarding how to improve positional play this would help you to understand the importance of positional decisions and will help you a lot.

Improve your positional play.

Hope you can improve.

Thank you~!!!

I’m very new to chess and in no way would attempt to advise someone that much more highly ranked than me but I will share what I do that I feel is helping me that I hope will offer some help to other new people. I spend a lot of time on the tactics (puzzles) trying to understand every move in a puzzle and the reason for it, I do a lot of drills, I play daily games as well as a lot of computer games. I also have a few highly recommended books I’m working through.

Play games everyday. Try to play longer ones (30 min or 15|10 min) and analyze them when you're done.
