In the U.S. I don't think one can purchase radioactive materials without a specific license or permission from the government, but I honestly don't know. I never considered doing that, for fairly obvious reasons.

I think official chemist especially in Canada can buy uranyl Nitrate but not weapon grade uranium. You can search in YouTube NileRed Uranium Glass. He has shown beautifully how to make uranium glass. From there, I have also learnt to make sodium diuranate from uranyl nitrate and properties of radiation like alpha , beta and gamma rays. You can watch it. It is very interesting. He is a licensed chemist
