Top Ten List For This Group

Sort:

I thought we could come up with our favorite pieces of Poetry or Prose
written so far on this site.  When I have picked my ten I will post them.
What do you all think?  Which ten items here are your favorite?

Writch

Hear, hear! I second the motion and sticky this topic until further notice.

At this time I'd like to encourage people to remember that they can go back and edit their replies to this so if you want to just reply with a top-3 or top-5 to start off with, well then no problem.... just add more to it later!

My top-ten soon to follow.

enufem

These are my top 10 pieces, relying purely on my memory of being interested/affected by them. As such they don't go back further than a year, this list may change if I have more time to root through the archive! They are in no particular order of merit, just the order in which I remembered them.

Cristina – PVilla

Like Insects – Rael

History of the Last Five Seconds – Adambarko

Electric Green – Catherine-J (within the thread 'perception, a little ditty' – also very good)

A Heap of Broken Images – Rael

'The word let go of the paragraph…' – Writch (in the 'Writchcraft: Handcrafted baubles…' thread)

Then and Now – PVilla

 Yawnings – ivandh

 Sing – fishcake

 Feeding the Animals – csharpe

 edit: now linked

Two of my top ten are "Cristina" by Pvilla and "Like Insects" by Rael, which
I notice are both on enufem's list as well.

Writch

These are 10 of my most noteworthy Poem choices (not necessarily arranged in any particular order). I will put a separate list for prose.

Click on the titles for the links there.

My 3rd pick is "Love Poem" by elementGD.  It is excellent writing.

My 4th pick, and these are in no particular order, is "Pretty Liquidity" by
Writch.  I wish I had thought of that name for one of my songs, and the poem
really grabs your attention.  Well done.

DPenn

I have to say I am a big fan of all Rael's poetry.  There are many awesome poets here and I can't pick top 10.

Go ahead and use it. I only used it here - never published it and as far as I know, have never have seen it elsewhere. (Could be a case of cryptonesia though. Google yields this among others: "“The market is still pretty liquidity driven,” said Liu, who rates Bank of China and China Construction Bank shares ")

I am posting this on behalf of pawnsolo2 who is having trouble posting it directly.

What rule can govern death and life apart!
How great thoughts burn alive a Black and White
War, so that now darkness reflects as light.
Has science shattered piece from peace as art?
Who but you and I see the end from start!
Hanging from a tower knowing the fight
Wanting us is not about wrong or right;
Hence forth our symmetry shall fall apart!
Waste us away our position and time,
Howl the difference between love and hate.
We are one with justice or two with crime,
Heaven and Hell gamble souls on such lines.
Where mortal desire is God and State,
Heaven has no Hell without a checkmate

The above poems are some of my favorites.  Not all of my favorites, but only those that I have re-read recently (I'm still re-reading more).  Thank you, Writch, for posting the links to the poems.  It made it much easier to read them again.  Perhaps, all the poems and prose can be listed in one directory for 2010?

After reading the poems, I was really inspired and wrote a couple of more poems.  I also wrote a few more lines in my never-ending play.  But it was very enjoyable to read the poems in one sitting, like having a favorite book of poetry that I visit frequently.
