Tournament planning

I propose 2 PCS Chess tournaments a month (starting on May 6) through the summer:  1st Wednesdays at 3:40pm for students only and 3rd Thursdays at 7:00pm for students & staff.  What do you think of Thursdays?  What do you think of a 7pm start time?  What do you think of 1 for students only and 1 for students & staff?

Before July, PCS Chess had K-12 student tournaments the 1st Wednesday of each month at 3:40 pm and open the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm. We tried daily tournaments this month, and the response has been so-so; the first 22 days of July we actually had only 8 tournaments. So, I want to try a middle-of-the-road approach for August: one K-12 tournament per week and one open tournament per week. I am inclined to keep the open tournaments on Thursdays at 7pm. Please let me know:

  1. Open tournaments: Is Thu 7pm good? If not, give me some other options.
  2. K12 tournaments: Is 7pm good? If not, give me some other options.
  3. K12 tournaments: Give me your top 3 preferences for day of the week (not Thu).

Thanks,

Mr. A

1: 7pm is good

2: 7pm is also good

3: whatever day @ChrisalonalLiverspur can make it. The reason for this is because when he is not there they usually don't start.

Looks like Friday might be the best for most of you for K12 tournaments.  The time choices appear to be 4, 6, 7, or 7:30.  Which of these are BAD for you?

Please let me know what you think of this new (Aug 12) proposal:

I propose adding a K-12 15|0 60-minute arena tournament on Wednesdays (starting Aug. 26) from 3:40 – 4:40. Arena Tournaments are timed tournaments where people battle for the most points. When the timer runs out (at 4:40), all in-progress games are aborted and will not count towards your Arena score.
In an Arena, as soon as one game ends, you may opt to be paired again immediately by tapping “Next Game.” There are no rounds to be completed. This allows you to join, withdraw, and rejoin whenever you'd like so long as the Arena still has time left. All arenas are open rating, however, the server will try to match you with an opponent having a similar rating.

Point system – Draw: +1 point; Win: +2 points; Second win in a row: +3 points; Third (or higher) win in a row: +4 points

(Note: To encourage fair play, Arena games require you to play at least 20 moves before offering a draw, or at least 10 before resigning.)
