Tournament Schedule

So how do we sign up for today?
The same way as any other day. Be in Live before the tourney starts, find the tourney in the event list and join it. It will show up around 4 PST / 7 EST and will start at 5 PST / 8 EST.

5 rds 15/10 is a bit insane. you're going to get 5 hr tournaments.
Based on the number of players over the first two tourneys, 5 rounds is about right. I agree though, after watching last week, it does run a little long. Danny decided after the first one that 5 rounds would be good. If enough people dislike the length, then I guess he might decide to change it back, though I can't say for sure.
There is always the option to drop out after 4 rounds though.

I have to agree with Petro. I just don't have time for 4-5 hr tournaments. I would love for there to be shorter events. I would prefer 4 rounds of 10|5 or 10|0. Those would last about 2 hours and would be much easier to fit into my schedule.

I think 5 second increments are about as high as you really need.
The idea behind increments is avoid the situation where someone will just outblitz you in a dead even position and win the game shifting pieces around. Five seconds should be enough to make automatic moves.
They have 30 second increments in FIDE rated events because they are required to keep a game score, even when in severe time trouble. Not an issue here.

I would love to participate, but I don't get out of work until a little after 5p pacific. I'd love to see different start time options in the future.

Where do you go to sign up for the rapid on friday? thanks
Log into Live and find the Tournament tab. The tourney will be listed there and you just click on Join. It will be listed up to an hour before the start.

How do you go about getting into the tournament? I have verified in the USCF.
See the post just above yours. Up to an hour before the start of the tourney on the scheduled day, log on to Live and follow those instructions. I hope to have a forum up as some point with screenshots of some of it but it is pretty simple to do.
Wish we could do a game in 30 minutes tournament.
Can't you set up a G30 tournament, non-USCF with chess.com. That could be fun.
As far as I know, users can't set up live tourneys at this point; not sure if it is something on the roadmap either.
