Traps in the Italian

I have been studying the Italian since I lost a OTB Tournament game in 12, yes 12 )': moves

So I went through the game afterwards with one of the coaches who said I should of played 4.c3 . So I decided to research this opening and found this legendary trap!

Another c3 trap

The next two traps are VERY similar.

So here they are

That last trap got played on me in live chess but I managed to refute it because although I took the e5 pawn and that was a mistake, my opponent made a couple mistakes too.
A nice attack here by the man himself!
I will update this thread if I find out about any more traps in the Italian Game :)

8.Nxd4? Doesn't that lose the queen? yea and my coach showed me how Bxf7 loses...

Ty for the info on the last game :) If Black does castle, I wouldn't really want to be in whites position

ohhh, ofcourse.. lol missed that

I am not sure if this is a trap but it involves 2 sacrifices and a similar theme as the Fishing Pole trap in the Ruy Lopez.

I know of a few traps you might like.

1. trap for black in the modern line of the Greco attack:

2: Chigorin trap fro black in the Giuoco pianissimo:

there are a couple different ways to mate here, depending on what white does, but after white plays Nc3 it is a forced mate

3: mating trap in Ulvestad variation of Knight attack:

Gotham Chess did a video on the fried liver attack recently and mentioned this trap (and a few others) in the Ulvestad variation 5...b5.

4: fried liver attack and lolli attack. Whilst these aren't technically traps, i recommend learning the lines (I won't put them here as they are commonly available on YT)

5. Deutz gambit has several traps for white, that aren't mating or instantly winning but afford white a much better position.

with best play, black can get an advantage, but there are so many ways to go wrong for black in the Deutz gambit if they don't know the theory (as shown in the example)

5. Here is another trap in the knight attack. It's pretty obvious but you never know, it might be handful in blitz:

6: trap in the Hungarian defense: (this one can be escaped if black plays perfectly, after making the inaccurate move dxc3, but white still gets a better position in the end):

That's all I can think of now that haven't been mentioned yet. Hopefully they are new to you and helpful!
