in a lot of my modern defense games I play nd4 and especially in blitz white will often take it with his bishop because it looks like after exd4 and Qxd4, white is up a pawn. But they overlook the danger of Nxe4 with a discovered attack on their queen from my bishop. Note that I have to play Re8 or sometimes Bg7 at some point in the opening to prepare this trap. Engines usually rate my position as only a slight plus after this but I win a lot of games from these positions where white wastes a lot of time as they get over the surprise or they blunder soon after. eg
