Two games from my first OTB Tournament

As promised, see below two games from my first "Over the board tournament experience" - a 6 turns, 90'/game + 30"/move.

As a general comment, the difference between playing over the internet and playing, competitevely, OTB has been huge for me. I was not really prepared to have more than 8 hours of playing time every day, plus travel time...

The first game includes the comments from my coach - they may be interesting for you as well!

The second game is my only win: even if it is nothing special, I am very proud of it, because I won against someone with much more experience than me (about 35 tournaments already played, versus 0 for me!).

Enjoy - and feel free to laugh! Embarassed

Great stuff Andrea. In the first game I actually think your position with the bishop pair is fine, even though I agree with your coach on the opinions on which pawns to advance Wink. As for the second - a first win must feel really great! In my opinion you actually slaughtered the poor fellow!

Thank you for sharing! Play OTB is quite different. I suppose it is much more fun but it takes some time to develope the rhino skin needed.

I will probably have my second mini-exposure of OTB this fall playing in a (supposed to be) friendly team league.

I suppose the absence of database makes a marked difference in the general strength of openings as well as middlegames and in due process the endgame as well. Instructive games indeed.

Thanks all for your comments!

Actually, the major problem I had has been keeping the focus for 4 hours or more in a row - that's where I struggled the most. This is clearly due to my lack of experience in OTB long games, which are so different than the correspondence-like games I'm used playing.

But I will for sure work on that!
