It would also be rather boring: it would take ages before the armies meet. Musketeer Chess has a lot of pieces with a limited range. Better to limit the depth of the board to at most 10 ranks. Even then the population density will be lower that in orthodox Chess. And allow the Pawns to always move up to the line separating the board halfs. (So a triple push from 2nd rank for a 10-rank board, and a double-push from the 3rd rank.)
