I would be grateful if you could stop saying that. We are here to help and to work on these issues. We are not perfect but we work hard on all the products we offer. So, could you please make a list of all the issues you are currently experimenting?
1) Pieces dropping on a8?
2) Lag?
3) Any other?
Many thanks for your comprehension and help ![]()
@davidkaufmann I would be grateful if chess.com ACTUALLY did something about the problems that have been plaguing bughouse chess for the past 2 years. Most of those who 'grew up' playing bug on fics are here (Started playing bughouse there in 1996 when it was first implemented.) We came here not because of the quality of the product but the 'reach' of the platform (there are just more players here..period...which is a GREAT thing!) I'm very happy to see bughouse grow anywhere. That being said -- when you say that the community hasn't been stating the problems since first implementation (I started playing on chess.com right around the time bug was introduced (I only don't like online chess that much so not much draw for me to play on any chess server that doesn't have bughouse)) then I have to conclude you guys don't pay much attention to the bug community. The real difference between FICS and chess.com is the fact that we pay Nothing for FICS...that F in Fics means FREE. and that those of us who were there from the beginning saw that any bugs were taken care of in a timely fashion and those the way it was done didn't need to be put into a bug report ..probably because we had implementers who took the time to play the game and understood what the community needed as they were a part of it. Some here may not understand my level of frustration with Chess.com...but I paid to play bughouse here and to support the community at this platform. I paid not 1 time but 3 times--my daughters play here too and I wanted to make sure the lag generated by the ads weren't a factor in how they play online. Â
1) Pieces dropping on either a8/a1,
2) Premoves costing way more than 0.1 seconds

SUGGESTION: instead of your time ticking as soon as the game starts, give everyone around 15 seconds at the first move (the longer the time control, the longer the time). Why? Because a lot of the times people abort games, it's because when they come it's too late. Imagine if you are playing a 1|0 game and you start with 45 seconds. You would instantly abort the game! You can also make a sound as the players' starting time gets lower. If the player still doesn't come, then it counts as that person aborting the game.

Anyone agree?
@bughousecoach so what is the bug? You have to pay money to play bughouse?? (I got a free premium membership so I don't know)
I didn't have to pay money to play bug (We played it but there is an inherent lag with all the ads chess.com likes to stuff into the free memberships. when playing a 3 min game it can be costly and annoying...we pay to make it better (at least that's the idea of making the payment)...the BUG?  The way I see it it isn't about 1 bug that chess.com has...it's the fact that those who are to fix bugs are not engaged in the product they are offering--like a non-chess player trying to program a chess engine--so we have no bughouse players who are programming bughouse or even if they know how to play it they don't play it and don't connect well with the community on what the issues are.

Can you actually say one of the issues though? I don't see any
at the top of the thread (top of the conversation) you see two issues. that in a previous thread(conversation) we made clear. one pieces that are being teleported to a8/a1 and the lag. I'm not sure if your browser (the app you use to look at webpages) is able to scroll (move you around the web page) is able to go to the "top" beginning of the conversation but if you can. you can read the bugs _items needing fixed there.
Ok. Thank you so much for your messages! Just wanted to mention you that we CARE a lot about them and we will look at them immediately so as to fix them as soon as possible. Thank you
Oh and one more thing is that my bughouse peices are at the EDGE of my smartphone screen. Hard to tap on them because I can see only 1/3 of every peice.Â
There's bughouse on mobile? Probably less buggy than desktop, at the moment.
I sent in a bug report about my experience, but I'll state it again here.
Especially in low time situations, the entire board/clock will freeze for seconds at a time. In the times between the freezing, terrible lag ensues. Maybe 1 in 10 moves will go through, premoves occurring after a few seconds as noted above, and you just sit and watch as your clock goes from 10 seconds to 0.Â
Also, @AnthonyAtanasov, your suggestion is not suitable for competitive play, since time is such a huge factor. Usually, there is some degree of balance in the clocks, i.e., diagonally, times are within a few seconds of each other. Let's say Board 1 starts moving, and Board 2 is just waiting. If you give 15 seconds to Board 2, then BOTH players on Board 2 might have significantly more time than the players on board 1. This will discourage sitting for pieces on Board 1, and overemphasize sitting on Board 2.
Maybe that's an interesting way to play the game, but there's no reason to introduce that imbalance. In my experience, players don't abort when they come late to the game; they abort because low opponents, not time. Also, I think chess.com has made it so that if you arrive fairly late (maybe 10 sec) and attempt to abort (by resigning), and your partners board has progressed slightly, then you lose points anyway. This is fair IMO, and you shouldn't reward players for not paying attention and arriving late.

are you talking about bughouse?? My suggestion was not........
Okay, this is unacceptable. Chess.com has been completely haywire recently.
First of all there's a weird bug where pieces randomly drop on a8 (I've lost many times because of this and so have my opponents and friends I've seen)
But even worse is the unbelievable lag that has been happening.
It's so bad to the point that even premoves are affected.
Premoves usually take 0.1 seconds, but in the worst instance of this lag I've found, a premove took up to 2.1 SECONDS...
This is unbelievable. Chess.com, what's going on?
