1st Course - How to move the pieces

1. Rook 

wr.png Rook looks like this . Rook is known as the 2nd strongest piece in chess . It moves straight and sideways . It also captures sideways and straight way . 

You have completed the lesson Rook successfully.  

2. Bishop 

Bishop moves diagonally . There are two types of bishops . 

1. White squared bishop - Only moves in white square 

2. Black coloured bishop - only moves in black squares 

It also captures diagonally

3.Queen 

THE QUEEN IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE IN CHESS . If you loose it means you agve half loose the game . The queen looks like this wq.png . She can move in all directions Diagonally like bishop and straight and sideways like A rook . So we can tell

Bishop + rook = Queen

4. King

King is The most valuable piece . If the king is checkmate ( we will learn in the next chapters ) the game is over . King looks like this wk.png. It can move in all directions like the queen but One square and also captures in any direction one move .

5. pawn 

Pawn are the little guys . They look like this wp.png. They move one square . But ,in the starting they can either play 2 moves or 1 according to the player . They capture diagonally . But dont think them weak . They can be dangerous when they reach The 8th Rank of the chess board  ( we will learn promotion in next chapters ). 

6. Knight 

Knight moves L shape  . They capture also in L shape.  They look like this wn.png
