Yeah It's basically EXTRA TIME TO THINK... and I don't know how to turn it on myself so I consider it unfriendly.

To turn vacation on for any daily games, just go to Settings/Daily Chess, and turn on there. And turn off there when ready to play again. Just in case you need to know for any emergency in the future. happy.png

Thank you! You´re the first to tell me happy.png and I appreciate it very much. Now I´m gonna abuse it evil.png

Please let me rise in favor of responsible use of vacation time.  I have a very demanding day job, and there are periods of time (sometimes weeks at a stretch) when I'm just too absorbed in client matters to have time to play chess.  I'm a Diamond member, so when I'm out of time in a Daily Chess game, my status automatically switches to vacation.

This has been a lifesaver for me, allowing me to remain a happy chess.com member.  When my wave of work pressure goes down, I'm back on the boards eager to play.

I have never abused vacation time, and I never will.  But sometimes, it really comes in handy.  As others have pointed out, it's perfectly fine for some people to want and expect their tournaments to progress quickly, That's why God invented the no-vacation tournament!  If you join a vacation-allowed tournament, please understand that some of us may use that chess.com feature.  (Of course, the guy who goes on "vacation" while spending hours playing Live Chess is another matter altogether!)

I expect that mine will be an unpopular opinion on this thread; but please accept that I'm making my comments (and using my vacation time) in good faith.

I fully understand and this is exactly where vacation time is for I would assume. But as others also mentioned and what I also have observed. People use vacation time to let there daily games linger on and in the meantime are often online to play blitz or rapid.

And when you have a good reason, it is at least appreciated when people respond in chat or in messages on polite questions when they will think they will be able to continue or make a next move. But in my example there has been no response at all.

But the issue I was facing will be solved pretty soon, the person ran out of vacation time last night  and the clock is ticking and its games are all timing out.

Well, some of us have games that slip into vacation mode, because time flew, and 3 days was up before we knew it. So not deliberately putting them into vacation mode to slow down games. Well that's my excuse anyway. But I usually put the games back into play asap.
