Vadim's Violent Variations

Both sides had chances to win in the slug fest. Marius played to advantage then went wrong with some seemingly innocent looking moves.  Michael played a very nice game and had winning chances.  He also showed some nice endgame play.

This game was a lot of fun

Marius gets wind in his sails by defeating me in round 3 and plays a nice game after a gift from Vadim.  Marius missteps with 13...e6 and Vadim has a winning position up until his unfortunate decision of trading queens.  This allows his knight to get trapped.  He had viable options to maintain his exchange up advantage but sadly his eleven game non losing streak comes to an end.
