1) I don't think 2 of the weakest pawns is enough. 2) Don't bring a knife to a gun fight, wazirs are not a goof choice. 3) Camel and Dabbaba are kind of useless. 4) It seems that teaming would be common. Suggestions: Change the center 4 bricks to a hill. Swap wazirs to knights or a least make them more powerful. Swap soldiers for sergeants. Change promotion to not be queen (I'd say promotion to a piece on the board). Make it teams (I recomend RB or RG).

Yes, it's possible, but the game would have too little variaty.

There's a Variants World submission called "Mini Match" that features a 5x5. It was declined for lack of variety.
