Variants Poll: What changes to Chaturaji do you prefer?

Finally, these changes are being proposed officially! You are great, guys!

As for game balance, there have been ideas in the Chaturaji community to make a king worth 5 points (or even 10) in solo mode. Imo it would encourage more active and aggressive play, and avoid simple piece exchanges as they would not be as effective. Also king sacrificing for a piece will become less effective in terms of securing 1st place.

Also, many have suggested reducing the value of the bishop to 3 or 4, as it is obviously weaker than the rook, and very often weaker than even the knight.
For example, I often exchange the bishop for a knight or sacrifice it for 2 passed pawns, and it is usually effective.

I was reviewing a forum that talks about the value of pieces in chess, and I found all the aspects it indicates very interesting.

What is more valuable, a knight or a bishop in chaturaji?

An important factor to highlight and reveal is that in chaturaji it is very important to keep the chain of pawns stable, if it is destroyed, your position would be very exposed, and there would also be very useless soldiers left in isolation, being left with an isolated pawn in chaturaji affects too much to the position, compared to other variants such as 2pc and 4pc.

I think that perhaps the value of the bishop specifically is what we should modify, the value of 5 points is determined in that way, since it is a very valuable piece in 4pc since due to the dimensions of the board it would be justified, since it is larger , but in chaturaji I consider that it should be closer or similar to 2pc. If we enter into a debate that would be my first opinion.

I would also like to know what the rest think.

Player names shown and having Solo optional to nerf pf2nds is the way to go, you can't go wrong.

As "Broken_ratings99" points out there could be a problem with lower rated players, even 2000+ players, hanging there pieces, and there would be almost impossible to not lose a ton of rating points for high rated players. This would most likely increases the luck aspect of the game. If the rating restrictions for solo would be higher, let's say 2300+, this would as mentioned solve the problem. I would like to propose an alternative solution to this that would allow everyone to play, even for players under 2000.

As it stands the point distribution is "+3 +1 -1 -3". What about a point distribution as "+4 +0 -2 -2" or "+4 +0 -1 -3"?

This would solve the issue of people playing for 2nd, since you can't earn any rating point. But also workes as an escape route if you where to get "unlucky" in a particular game.

I'm sorry for being a little off topic, but I have an idea how to reduce the level of cooperation in the game. How about making a 2-on-2 team game in ranked teams? Players will be able to play fairly in teams and will interfere less with solo players.

Chaturaji Teams has been available rated since forever.

It's just in the Teams category rather than Most Popular.

Why Alt Teams? Because it has proven to be more interesting/balanced/fair.

All Teams variants have been made Self-Partner by default (to make it easier for new players to start a game), but it can be easily disabled:

Poll results:

Based on the poll results and Admin Team votes, we're adding an optional Solo mode for players rated above 2100.

SFA, Anonymous and piece (bishop) value will be untouched for now.
