You do realize that the Camel and Amazon piece exist, right? The letters would conflict in other variants
Missing the point entirely.
Someone replaying a Gothic Chess game needs C and A.
Who cares if other variants have pieces that start with C and A?
Not me.
And if someone playing double-hump-camel chess doesn't realize C in that game is for Camel, maybe they lack the brains to be playing any such game at all.
C and A are needed for Gothic notation.
They're not in there.
This site has it wrong. Period. End. You lose. I win.
Someone can please stop @Gorgon_Slayer? It’s just getting annoying to this point, arguing about the notations of pieces is so stupid

Okay, now let's see a hypothetical example. (in a world where C is for Chancenllor and A is for Archbishop
Let's say that a Gothic Chess player comes over to the house of a player who plays XXL Chess (with his friend). They (the XXL Chess player and his friend) have just played a game of XXL Chess where notaition is requierd the Gothic Chess player looks at the notaition sheet and then the starting position... Then he (loudly) exclaims: "ha-ha you put the wrong position for Gothic Chess!" The XXL Chess player says "This is not Gothic Chess, this is XXL Chess" And it becomes an argument. Not good, i'd say.
Can we have fog of war tournaments 5
6 wrongs don’t make a right, unless you’re teaching us how to get muted. Regardless, there’s already FOW tournaments on variants.

Subject: Request for a chess variant to reduce draw death
Dear Sirs,
Chess.com is famous all over the chess world.
I write to you because I am curious of something.
This is in relation to remedies for reducing the draw death in chess.
As you know, remedies have been introduced such as faster time control and chess960.
However, faster time controls seem to ruin the quality of the moves and chess960 does away with the opening theory.
What if we introduce a new rule - the King promotion rule. The player wins if his king reaches the 8th rank and is not captured on the opponent’s turn.
I wonder what will be the results if the top engines compete using this chess variant. Would it reduce draws?
In this regard, I respectfully request your team to introduce this chess variant.
I have looked into studying chess programming and the Stockfish code, but I have no experience. I am just a retired sea captain, 58 years old chess aficionado.
I trust in your kind understanding and look forward to a positive reply.
Many thanks for reading.
Best regards,
Captain Norlito Uy Sepulvida
If you were right, I would agree with you.
As it happens, you're wrong, again, here's why.
Below is a sample export of a PGN from here from Gothic Chess, a 10x8 board.
The first move, h5-h7, is supposed to be a white pawn move, from f2 to f4.
Not even close to being correct.
Move 15 starts with a capital letter "E" yet that was a Chancellor that moved.
So you're wrong again. They're using the wrong letter.
Move 16 was an Archbishop move. Last time I checked, Archbishop didn't start with "H."
So maybe next time you can actually do a little bit of research before you hurl generalizations.
